Continuous Improvement for a Safer Online Environment

WhoisXML API has been in the business of providing Internet intelligence for nearly two decades. What started as a passion project aimed at breaking down the silos of WHOIS data gathering has now become one of the leading OEM data providers, specializing in the delivery of well-parsed, normalized, and comprehensive WHOIS, IP, and DNS intelligence. 

Over the years, we have expanded our data repositories, supported the development of modern cyber solutions, and continually adapted to the evolving technology and cybersecurity landscape. Here are some of the projects we have successfully launched in 2025:

• RDAP-readiness: WhoisXML API is fully RDAP-ready. With the transition from WHOIS to RDAP underway, we made data access seamless and continuous for our users by allowing them to choose their preferred data retrieval method or use an automatic fallback to the available protocol. We also developed an RDAP monitoring dashboard to let users easily track RDAP adoption across 1,440 top-level domains (TLDs).

• MCP server: We launched an MCP server that allows users to query 17 of our APIs through their preferred large language model (LLM). Now, users can access the data they need from multiple data sources using conversational language within their AI tools.

• Enhanced interfaces for all lookup tools: We've upgraded the interfaces for our lookup tools. Logged-in users can now view unmasked query results in a user-friendly GUI, revisit past queries with the new memory feature, and share results with anyone by toggling the "Visible for all" option.

• Massive increases in data access: The Subdomain Database Download coverage increased from 2.3B to 9.6B subdomains, as seen in our latest weekly full files. Additionally, our Enterprise and Ultimate NRD Data Feed now offers up to one year of historical files.
